Embark Scientific LabTips

June 2007
bead assaysAre you using bead arrays or bead based technologies for DNA or Protein analysis?

Experiencing low bead recovery can be frustrating!  If you are using a 200ul or even a 10ul pipette tip to draw off supernatant during wash steps, this could lead to significant bead loss.  The best method to draw off supernatant is with a plastic bulb pipet. The orafice is narrow and you have good control.  Also, a little goes a long way...leaving 10-20ul of supernatant in your tube during wash steps will help prevent losing your bead pellet.
