A New Course to Embark Upon...
We teamed up with Rodney Rohde,
Assistant Professor at Texas State University – San Marcos, to develop
new coursework to be added to the Molecular Diagnostics Assays course in
the Clinical Laboratory Science Program. This program prepares students
to become Clinical Laboratory Scientists, also known as Medical
Technologists and enter the exciting world of clinical life science with
paths including: research, hospital, clinical and public health
laboratories.
Students taking the new addition
to Molecular Diagnostics Assays (CLS 4341) will receive practical
instruction in DNA purification, PCR assay design, amplification and
analysis, and DNA sequencing, cleanup and analysis of mecA and
femA genes in Methicillin Resistance Staphylococcus aureus and
iroB gene in Salmonella enterica.
